Elephant ride in Chitwan National Park
Chitwan National Park in past also called Royal Chitwan National Park is a nature conservation park in South Asia. This is the first established national park of Nepal in 1973 to conserve the ecosystem all an around. The park covers an area of 932 sq. km situated in the subtropical Terai regions lowlands of southern - central part of Nepal. The park is listed in the World Heritage by UNESCO in 1984.
The park is surrounded by the churia hills, flood plains of Rapti, Reu and Narayani rivers along with ox-bow lakes. The Churia hill rises gradually towards the east from 150 m to over 800 m. The flood plains of Chitwan are rich alluvial. The park is boundary by the Narayani and Rapti rivers in the north and west, and the Reu river in south. It also shares the eastern border with Parsa Wildlife Reserve.
